Small is Beautiful

See Barbara Weirs new Wildflower series here
The fantastic female artists of Utopia have been inspired to produce a wonderful body of small works together with some larger pieces especially for DACOU.
'Wildflower' is the title of a fresh series of new work by Barbara Weir, exclusive to DACOU, which pays homage to the transformation of her country, Atnwengerrp, following recent rainfall and a regeneration of plant life in the desert. Enlivened with bold dots of paint, the surface of Barbara’s recent canvases are celebratory kaleidoscopes of colour underpinned beneath by the body paint designs of women’s ceremony, Awelye.
Gloria Petyarre continues to create delightful paintings in her renowned 'Bush Medicine' style using both the broad and finer brush to depict the leaves of the medicine plant celebrated for its healing properties. Her new, smaller works are painted in a variety of rich purples, dusty pinks and soothing blues and greens.
Emily and Galya Pwerle have each painted a number of gorgeous works representing their individual interpretation of women's ceremonial design and Bush Melon Dreaming while our emerging artists have surprised us yet again by producing exquisite fine dot work pieces of excellent quality. Jessie Hunter and Aileen Mbitjana have developed beautiful new styles that meticulously depict their Dreaming and Country.
Please take a look at the following pages of paintings. This is only a selection of works that we have available. If you are looking for something particular, please either visit the gallery or contact us on 03 9963 6368 or email info@dacoumelbourne.com.au
