Freddy Purla is a male artist from Utopia. Son of the famous artist Barbara Weir & grandson of Minnie Pwerle. Freddy began painting in the late 80s and embraces a contemporary expression to his Dreaming & Country.
‘This painting represents a juxtoposition of my traditional home land and my city life. I have created a landscape that represents both my worlds using traditional dots and ochre colours alongside symbols that represent western city life, such as tyres and buildings. My playground is the desert and surrounding me are the sharp and repetitive shapes of the city I regularly visit.'
