Molly Pwerle, sister to the late, famed artist Minnie Pwerle, paints Awelye Atnwengerrp in her individually expressionistic style of linear construction. As the senior female custodian of Atnwengerrp, Molly, like her sisters, intimately knows every aspect of her country and the bush melon plant, which is her ancestral Dreaming. Depicting Awelye (Women’s Ceremony), her traditional body paint designs are invigorating, remarkable variations of straight and interweaving lines. Using her innate ability to mix bold colours and create mesmerising rhythms, she produces sophisticated and exciting artworks. The exhibition will feature over 15 pieces chronicling Molly’s artistic development, including her very popular recent works.
