Greeny is the oldest nephew of the late Emily Kame Kngwarreye and a highly respected tribal elder of Alhalkere.
The linear brush strokes in this painting represent the yam roots of the yam plant. This bush vegetable is much like a sweet potato and grows throughout the Utopia community. As in most of Greeny’s linear work, only one layer of paint is applied and very rarely does Greeny paint back over a line he has painted. As a result these works are unique in texture & appearance.
