Lindsay is recognised in his community as an important Aboriginal leader and one of the leaders in the Art movement from Utopia. He was one of few men to work in the medium of batik when it was introduced in the 70s.
As a senior Law man, Lindsay can depict many themes of men's law in his paintings. This unique work represents the designs in men’s ceremony. This painting is simple in its design but very strong in its sacred meaning. Lindsay makes reference to a sacred ceremonial site where “men’s business” is conducted. The circles represent the sacred site and the semi-circles represent the men conducting men’s business at the site. The linear design through the painting represents the dance tracks the men undertake during ceremony.
