Lindsay Bird was born circa 1940 in Ungoola. Lindsay is recognised in his community as an important Aboriginal leader and as one of the leaders in the Art movement from Utopia. He was one of few men to work in the medium of batik when it was introduced in the 70s.
As a senior Law man, Lindsay can depict many themes of men's law in his paintings. This bush tucker painting depicts the journey of the Spirit Ancestor of the Mulga berry as it moved from site to site across the Anmatyerre country, stopping at rock holes or soakage bores for water. As a custodian of the land, Lindsay has deep respect for its food source which is vital to the continual practice of Aboriginal law and tradition in the community.
