Barney Ellaga

In this exhibition Dacou is proud to present the colourful artwork of Barney Ellaga. Barney Ellaga was born circa 1939 at Hodgson Downs in the Northern Territory. A south-east Arnhem land artist, Barney is a senior custodian for Minyerri and Mambali Country, south of the Roper River. Barney paints the many Dreamings associated with his country. His bright, unique paintings of multi coloured composition and linear brushwork represent his country and also make reference to the skin of King Brown snake. Ellaga's work continues to be sought after over the world, having held a number of solo exhibitions as well as being represented in both private and public galleries and collections, such at the the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra and the Laverty Collection.
